OmniVision Technologies (OVTI) reported a first quarter EPS loss of $0.08 after the close Thursday, compared to a profit of $0.25 last year. The consensus estimate was for a loss of $0.11. The company expects to report second quarter EPS between $0.10 and $0.20, compared to the consensus estimate of a loss of $0.04.
OmniVision Technologies gapped open sharply higher Thursday, but traded in a range for the majority of the session. Shares finished up by $1.63 at $14.93 on the highest volume of the year. The stock rose above over a one-month range and closed at a new high for the year.
