Guy Babylon, Elton John's keyboardist, died last week. The 53-year-old passed away after suffering a heart attack while swimming in his pool at his Los Angeles home.

Babylon joined Elton John's band as both studio and touring keyboardist in 1988. The first Elton John album he was featured on was that year's Sleeping with the Past. By 1992, Babylon had become John's lead keyboardist.

Babylon earned a Grammy award in 2001 for his contribution to the Elton John musical Aida. Babylon also contributed to the Elton John and Bernie Taupin musical Lestat, based on the Anne Rice novels.

Babylon also played with rock group Iron Butterfly and disco group Tavares. He played in the Warpipes, a side project of Davey Johnstone, a fellow member of Elton John's band.
