Diamond Foods Inc. (DMND) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.16 after the close Wednesday, which topped the consensus estimate of $0.18. First quarter EPS is expected to come in between $0.70 and $0.85, compared to the consensus estimate of $0.80. The company also raised its full year 2010 EPS forecast to between $1.70 and $1.80, from prior expectations of $1.55 to $1.70. The consensus estimate is for EPS of $1.74.
Diamond Foods posted modest gains early Thursday morning and rose further late in the afternoon. Shares finished up by $1.28 at $33.00 on the highest volume in 4 months. The stock has been rising since the beginning of the week and closed at a new high for the year.
