Sequenom Inc. (SQNM) said it appointed Paul Maier as the company's interim chief financial officer effective November 10, 2009, reporting directly to the company's interim chief executive officer and chairman of the board, Harry Hixson. Prior to the effective date of Maier's appointment as interim chief financial officer, Maier would act as a consultant to the company. Maier has been an independent financial consultant since February 2007.
Maier served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Ligand Pharmaceuticals Incorporated from 1992 until January 2007.
