Chimera Investment Turns To Profit In Q3 - Quick Facts

Chimera Investment Corp. (CIM) reported third-quarter GAAP net income of $158.0 million or $0.24 per share, compared to GAAP net loss of $107.6 million or $2.76 per share in the year ago quarter.

Core Earnings for the quarter were $85.9 million or $0.13 per share, compared to Core Earnings of $6.3 million or $0.16 per share in the same quarter last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.12 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net interest income for the quarter rose to $95.49 million from $7.92 million in the prior year quarter.

The Company declared common stock dividends of $0.12, $0.16, and $0.08 per share for the quarters ended September 30, 2009, September 30, 2008, and June 30, 2009, respectively. The annualized dividend yield on the Company's common stock for the third quarter, based on the September 30, 2009, closing price of $3.82 was 12.57%.
