Church & Dwight Q3 Profit Rises; Lifts FY09 EPS View - Quick Facts

Tuesday, Church & Dwight Co. Inc. (CHD) reported third-quarter net income of $70.0 million or $0.98 per share, compared to net income of $49.0 million or $0.69 per share in the same quarter last year.

Excluding charges, net income for the quarter was $0.86 per share, compared to $0.73 per share in the previous year quarter.

On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.83 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net sales for the quarter increased to $646.2 million, up from $630.7 million in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to report revenue of $642.31 million for the quarter.

Looking ahead to the full year 2009, the company raised its adjusted earnings estimate to a range of $3.40 - $3.43 per share, from the $3.35 - $3.40 per share. Reported earnings is expected to be in the range of $3.35 - $3.38 per share, compared to the prior guidance of $3.07 - $3.12 per share. Analysts currently anticipate the company to earn $3.43 per share.
