Metal and plastic packaging supplier Ball Corp. (BLL) announced Wednesday that it named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John Hayes as president and as a director of the company, effective 2010 beginning. Additionally, the company also named Vice President and Treasurer Scott Morrison as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Hayes and Morrison will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Hoover. Hayes succeeds Hoover, who has been president since January 2000.
In a statement, Hoover said, "We are very pleased to have John Hayes become president of Ball Corporation and join our board. He has been a major contributor to our success since joining the company in 1999. Over the past two years he has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills as executive vice president and chief operating officer."
Most recently, Hayes was executive vice president and chief operating officer since 2008, after he served as president, Ball Packaging Europe since 2006. Hayes began his career with Ball in 1999 as senior director, corporate planning and development.
He was also vice president, corporate strategy, development and marketing. Prior to joining Bell in 1999, Hayes worked as vice president, mergers and acquisitions/corporate finance at Lehman Brothers, Chicago.
"Scott Morrison has been instrumental in crafting and executing the strategy that has led to the strong financial position we have today. Scott's experience in effectively managing financial risk has played a key role in steering Ball through this time of unprecedented financial volatility, and his deep knowledge of our company and our financial strategy make him well-suited to succeed Ray Seabrook as CFO," Hoover added.
Morrison joined Ball in 2000 as treasurer and was later in 2002 also named as vice president. Prior to joining Ball, Morrison served at Bank One, Indianapolis as managing director/senior banker of corporate banking.
Earlier, Morrison also worked at First Chicago, Indianapolis as first vice president of corporate banking as well as NBD Bank, Detroit as assistant vice president from 1984 to 1990, and as vice president from 1990 to 1995.
Additionally, Broomfield, Colorado-based Ball also named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Raymond Seabrook to become executive vice president and chief operating officer to Ball's global packaging operations. Seabrook will be reporting to Hayes.
Seabrook joined Ball in 1988 senior vice president and chief financial officer of Ball Packaging Products, Canada. He then became corporate vice president and treasurer in 1992, and chief financial officer in 2000. Seabrook has been executive vice president and chief financial officer since 2006.
BLL closed Wednesday's regular trading session at $51.05, down $0.27 or 0.53% on a volume of 0.49 million shares, lower than the three-month average volume of 0.85 million shares.
