Starting Monday, British immigration authorities will begin fingerprint checks at the border for foreign nationals with biometric U.K. visas, entry clearances and identity cards.
These passengers, on arrival in the United Kingdom, will have their fingerprints scanned at border control in addition to the normal checks. The fingerprints will then be cross-verified with those the passenger provided when they applied for visa.
The checks will confirm whether or not the passenger entering the United Kingdom is the same person who gave their biometrics when they applied for their visa, an official spokesman said.
