Radiohead's 2000 release, Kid A, has been deemed the best album of the decade by Rolling Stone magazine in its latest issue.

The album was chosen by a panel of more than 100 critics, artists and industry insiders.

"Radiohead's fourth album, renounced everything in rock that . . . reeked of the tired and over familiar," Rolling Stone said of Kid A.

"Only 10 months into the century, Radiohead had made the decade's best album. Rebuilding rock itself, with a new set of basics and a bleak but potent humanity," an article read.

Kid A also came in at number three on the Rolling Stone's reader's poll of the best albums of the decade.

Other albums to make the magazine's top 10 included the Strokes' This is It at number two, Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot at number three, Jay-Z's The Blueprint at number four and the White Stripes' Elephant at number five.
