AES Corporation To Sell Its Interests In Oman And Pakistan For $200 Million

The AES Corporation (AES), on Sunday, announced that it has entered into agreements to sell its entire interests in its Oman and Pakistan businesses for approximately $200 million.

AES has 35% stake in 456 MW Barka combined cycle gase facility and desalination plant in Oman. In addition, AES has 55% stake in two oil-fird facilities - 362 MW Lal Pir and 365 MW Pak Gen.

The global power company revealed following the sale of its interests in Oman and Pakistan, about $276 million of non-recourse debt will be removed from the consolidated balance sheet of the company. The company further noted that the transactions are subject to customary purchase price adjustments and approvals and are expected to close during the first half of 2010.
