Cleco Power LLC, a subsidiary of Cleco Corp. (CNL), announced that its Rodemacher 3 or RPS3 project remains on budget and each of its two 300-megawatt boilers have produced enough steam for the unit to reach an output level of 160 megawatts and successfully deliver power to the grid. The unit now has an anticipated commercial operation date of early 2010.
The company said that the construction and startup contractor will remain in control of the unit until it meets certain performance guarantees, which are required for the unit to be considered commercially operational. Cleco Power has received approval from state regulators to begin recovery of the costs for the project upon commercial operation.
