China Must Tighten Monetary Policy, Think Tank Says

China needs to tighten monetary policy to curb the threat of inflation, economists at a government think tank said on Monday.

Yao Zhizhong and He Fan of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences wrote in an opinion piece in the official China Securities Journal that it was "necessary to take a monetary policy that is tighter than 'appropriately loose'".

Chinese authorities have repeatedly stated that a loose monetary policy would be retained to foster growth despite growing concerns that the property market is on the verge of overheating.
