Citigroup Q4 Loss Narrows - Quick Facts

Citigroup Inc. (C) reported that its fourth-quarter net loss was $7.58 billion, compared to a loss of $17.26 billion in the same quarter last year.

Net loss available to common shareholders was $7.77 billion, compared to a loss of $18.16 billion in the prior year quarter. On a per share basis, net loss was $0.33, compared to a loss of $3.40 in the year ago quarter. Excluding the $6.2 billion after-tax loss associated with TARP repayment and exiting the loss-sharing agreement, the latest quarter net loss was $1.4 billion or $0.06 per share.

Total Citigroup loss from Continuing Operations was $7.74 billion or $0.34 per share, compared to a loss of $20.99 billion or $4.04 per share a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.33 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter were $5.41 billion, down from $5.65 billion in the prior year quarter.
