Tuesday, WellCare Health Plans Inc. (WCG) appointed John Richter as vice president and chief litigation counsel. Richter formerly served as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma and as Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. In these capacities, Richter led comprehensive efforts at the national and local level to combat corporate, securities, and health care fraud.
Richter has more than 23 years of public and private sector experience. Before his appointments to senior positions in the Justice Department, Richter served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Georgia and Oklahoma, where he investigated and prosecuted white collar and public corruption cases. He also served previously as an Assistant District Attorney in Georgia.
WellCare Health Plans Inc. provides managed care services for government-sponsored health care programs in the United States. The company offers Medicaid and Medicare plans, including health plans for families, children, aged, blind, and disabled, as well as prescription drug plans.
