Harley-Davidson Slips To Q4 Loss - Quick Facts

Harley-Davidson Inc. (HOG) said its fourth-quarter net loss was $218.70 million or $0.94 per share compared with a profit of $77.81 million or $0.34 per share in the prior year quarter.

Net loss from continuing operations was $147.2 million or $0.63 per share versus an income of $91.9 million or $0.40 per share in 2008.

On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected loss per share of $0.32 for the quarter. Analysts' estimate typically excludes one-time items.

In the fourth-quarter of 2009, the company reported revenue of $764.5 million compared with $1.28 billion in the year-ago quarter, a 40.2% decline. Eleven analysts estimated revenues of $764.39 million for the quarter.

For 2010, the company expects to ship 201,000 - 212,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycles to dealers and distributors worldwide, a reduction of 5% - 10% from 2009. In the first quarter of 2010, Harley-Davidson expects to ship 52,000 - 57,000 motorcycles.
