Entergy Corp (ETR) reported fourth quarter net income attributable to Entergy of $313.78 million or $1.64 per share, compared to $170.57 million or $0.89 per share last year.
On an operational basis, earnings were $334.9 million, or $1.75 per share, compared with $190.7 million, or $0.99 per share, in fourth quarter 2008.
On average, 14 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.55 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Operating revenues declined to $2.5 billion from $3 billion in the same quarter a year earlier.
Four analysts estimated revenues of $3.71 billion.
Entergy is affirming 2010 earnings guidance in the range of $6.15 to $6.95 per share on an as-reported basis, assuming a business as usual operation for the full year. The company also reaffirmed operational earnings per share guidance of $6.40 to $7.20 per share.
Analysts expect the company to earn $6.70 per share.
