The government is likely to decide on the withdrawal of stimulus packages only after the current fiscal's gross domestic product data is released as it will provide the actual picture on the matter, media reports said quoting Chief Statistician Pronab Sen Wednesday.

However, he said that industrial production do indicate that government might start thinking of stimulus exit.

Industry growth has gained momentum recently with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other analysts suggesting partial withdrawal of the stimulus measures that were taken to overcome the impact of global economic slowdown.

Sen said industrial growth figures depicted only the supply side picture and the GDP data only would provide the demand side figures. It is up to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to decide on the stimulus measures, either based on the industrial growth or to wait for the economic growth figures, he added.
