Labopharm Inc. (DDS.TO,DDSS) announced the U.S. FDA has approved OLEPTRO Extended Release Tablets, a once-daily formulation of the antidepressant trazodone, for the treatment of major depressive disorder in adults. OLEPTRO utilizes CONTRAMID, Labopharm's clinically validated technology that controls the release of active substances within oral medications.
Labopharm expects OLEPTRO to be available for prescription in the U.S. later this year. The company believes it is well advanced in its preparations for the U.S. launch of OLEPTRO.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
