Neil Young has announced that he has begun work on a new album. The singer let the news slip during his acceptance speech for the MusiCares Person of the Year Award.

"I really don't know what to say," he said. "I'm honored so much. I forgot how many songs I've written and I saw so many of them, [but] I just want you to know I'm working on a new album."

"I've already written four or five songs and I don't want to stop," he added. "And I hope to be able to continue for a really long time."

Young took home the first Grammy Award of his long career at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday in Los Angeles. The award - for best art direction on a boxed or special limited edition package - was shared by art directors Gary Burden and Jenice Heo for Young's boxed set, Neil Young Archives Vol. 1 (1963-1972).
