30 Seconds to Mars were forced to cancel a screening of their latest documentary, Artifact, at a West Hollywood venue last week due to a potential bomb scare.

Frontman Jared Leto was thanking the crowd for their support of the band's effort to help the victims of Haiti during a recent auction, when there was a loud knock on the door.

"There was a giant, really loud knock at the front door, and I joked, 'Open it up,'" Leto told MTV News. "Then a guy walks in with a giant package in his arms and everyone, including me, thought it was a joke."

He added, "A few people in the crowd tried to stop him, because no one was really sure what his intentions were. He threw this big package down and it obviously had some weight to it, and addressed me by name and said he had a message for me and started reading out of a notebook. He was very incoherent and delusional."

Eventually, Leto was able to usher the man outside and the Los Angeles Police Department was called. The police had to shut down five blocks of Melrose Avenue in the process.

Some reports have said that the man's package included a blender and some candy, or money.
