Tuesday, Coventry Health Care Inc. (CVH) said its fourth-quarter net earnings rose to $109.08 million or $0.74 per share from $88.24 million or $0.60 per share in the prior year period. On average, 17 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.56 per share for the quarter.
Total operating revenues for the quarter increased to $3.42 billion from $2.97 billion in the comparable period. Thirteen analysts estimated revenues of $3.49 billion for the quarter.
For fiscal 2010, earnings per share are projected to be in the range of $2.10 - $2.25 on consolidated revenue of $10.86 billion - $11.37 billion. Eighteen analysts estimate earnings of $2.23 per share and fifteen analysts estimate revenues of $11.21 billion for the year.
