Centene Q4 Profit Rises; Backs FY10 Premium And Service Revenue View - Quick Facts

Centene Corp. (CNC) reported fourth quarter net earnings attributable to Centene of $23.72 million or $0.53 per share, compared to $21.42 million or $0.49 per share last year.

Earnings per share from continuing operations were $0.53, flat with the same quarter a year earlier.

On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.52 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues grew to $1.09 billion from $902.76 million in the prior year quarter. Five analysts estimated revenues of $1.10 billion.

For fiscal 2010, Centene's earnings per share from continuing operations are now expected to be in the range of $1.70-$1.80. Earlier, Centene's earnings per share from continuing operations were expected to be approximately $1.90 to $2.00.

Premium and Service revenues are still expected between $4.35 billion and $4.45 billion.

Analysts expect the company to earn $1.85 per share, on revenues of $4.54 billion.
