CareFusion Q2 Profit Declines; Revises FY10 Outlook - Quick Facts 2

Tuesday, CareFusion Corp. (CFN) reported second-quarter net income of $70 million or $0.32 per share, compared to net income of $188 million or $0.85 per share in the same quarter last year.

On an adjusted basis, net income was $88 million or $0.39 per share, compared to $110 million or $0.50 per share in the prior year quarter.

On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.38 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter was $1.02 billion, up from $969 million in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to report revenue of $983.52 million for the quarter.

Looking ahead to the full year 2010, the company increased its revenue guidance to a range of $3.95 billion - $4.05 billion, up from the previous guidance range of $3.85 billion - $4.0 billion. The company also narrowed its previous earnings guidance and expects adjusted earnings in the range of $1.40 - $1.45 per share, from the previous guidance range of $1.35 - $1.45 per shares. Analysts currently anticipate the company to earn $1.68 per share on revenue of $3.98 billion for the full year.
