Barrett Business Services Inc. (BBSI) reported net income of $2.2 million or $0.21 per share for the fourth quarter, compared to $2.3 million or $0.21 per share in the prior year quarter.
Net revenues for the fourth quarter declined 3.1% to $62.6 million from $64.6 million in the previous year quarter. Gross revenues rose to $270.8 million from $263.1 million in the year-ago quarter.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.20 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
For the first quarter 2010, the company anticipates a loss of $0.19 to a loss of $0.22 per share, and gross revenues of $258 million to $262 million.
