Malaysia's current account surplus increased to MYR 27.3 billion in the December quarter from MYR 25.3 billion in the September quarter, the Department of Statistics said on Thursday.

This was mainly due to a higher surplus on goods, which increased to MYR 38 billion from MYR 33.4 billion, and a lower deficit in current transfers. The current transfers deficit narrowed to MYR 4.7 billion from MYR 6.7 billion.

This managed to offset a higher deficit in the income account and a deficit in the services account, the statistical office said.
