Eurozone Unemployment Rate Holds Steady At 10%

The eurozone's unemployment rate was unchanged at 10% in June, official data released by Eurostat showed on Friday. This was in line with analyst expectations.

The number of unemployed increased by 6,000 in June compared to May, totaling 15.77 million. The male unemployment rate was at 9.8% while the female unemployment rate was at 10.2%.

The euro area country with the lowest unemployment rates was Austria, at 3.9%. On the other hand, the largest was Spain, at 20%.

Some 19.6% of under-25s in the eurozone were unemployed at the end of June. The lowest rate was observed in the Netherlands, while the highest was recorded in Spain.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate of the European Union was unchanged at 9.6%.
