Taylor Swift was offered a song and an apology from Kanye West, who notoriously interrupted her acceptance speech for the MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video at last year's ceremony. West apologized for the incident on Twitter, saying, among other things in a series of Tweets: "It is distasteful to cut people off as a general rule. What's the point of dressing tastefully if I'm going to act the complete opposite."
He then explained, "I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful and I want her to have it." He added, "If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her."
Swift and West will be reunited at the MTV Video Music Awards, which air on September 12.
Swift's third album, Speak Now, is slated for release on October 25. The album features 14 songs written by Swift. The first single, "Mine," was released on August 4 after it was leaked online and debuted at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
