The initial success of Chris Brown and T.I. starring in the action film Takers has led to talks of putting out a prequel in the near future.
T.I., who is facing jail for drug-related probation violations, revealed in a recent interview with BET that the "director, writer, the head of Screen Gems and the label heads over at Sony" are all on board to put together the prequel so that they can "tell the back story of the characters."
Talk of the prequel had started even before the film opened, with star/executive producer Chris Brown telling MTV "I think [the prequel] would be good . . . . You know, when you do prequels, they always bring more stuff than the last one. That's what makes people want to see it."
Takers revolves around a crew of bank robbers and the detectives that try to chase them down. The film features an all-star cast including Idris Elba, Hayden Christensen and Paul Walker, who join T.I. and Brown as the robbers. Matt Dillon and Jay Hernandez play the detectives.
The film opened in late August at the top of the box office list, finishing ahead of The Last Exorcism in its opening week.
