Actor Steve Landesberg Dies

Actor/comedian Steve Landesberg died on Monday after a battle with cancer. He was 65.

The New York-born actor was best known for his role as Detective Arthur Dietrich in the sitcom "Barney Miller," which ran from 1975-1982. He also appeared in "The Cosby Show," "Golden Girls," "The Rockford Files," "Law and Order," "Seinfeld," "Everybody Hates Chris," and "The Ghost Whisperer." He was most recently seen in the films "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Wild Hogs."

His "The Cleaner" co-star Shirley Jones says: "He was a wonderful comic and superb actor who gave so much of himself in every performance."

His agent Steve Leavitt adds: "Working with Steve was an honour both personally and professionally. My heart goes out to his family. He will be missed."

Landesberg is survived by his wife, Nancy, and his daughter, Elizabeth.
