comScore, Inc. (SCOR), a digital marketing intelligence platform, Monday reported a surge in visitation to cricket sites in India during the 2011 Cricket World Cup for the latest results and match updates.

While releasing the results from a study of Internet traffic to cricket websites, the company noted that the sites reached their highest volume of traffic for the month during the week ended March 13. Among India's online population, 16.4 percent visited ESPN's cricket site, ESPNCricInfo.com, and 13.4 percent of web users visited Yahoo! Cricket.

The study revealed that 6.93 million people frequented ESPNCricInfo.com during the week ended March 13, an increase of 42 percent from the week ending February 20 when the tournament commenced.

For the same week, Yahoo! Cricket reached 5.68 million visitors, and CricBuzz.com reached 1.18 million visitors, up 48% and 37%, respectively, from Feb. 20-week.

Joe Nguyen, comScore Vice President for Southeast Asia, stated, "We expect to see even greater visitation to cricket-related sites with the upcoming rivalry match between India and Pakistan on March 30, which is sure to be followed with great interest in both countries."

SCOR closed Friday's trading at $28.52, down $0.09 or 0.31%.
