NovaGold Names Gregory Lang President, CEO, Effective January 2012

NovaGold Resources Inc. (NG.TO) said Gregory Lang has accepted the position of president and chief executive officer, or CEO, of NovaGold, effective January 2012.

Lang comes to NovaGold from Barrick Gold Corp., where most recently he was president of Barrick Gold of North America, Barrick Gold's wholly-owned subsidiary. In that capacity, he had executive responsibility for Barrick Gold's nine operations in US, Canada and the Dominican Republic, including the Donlin Gold project, equally owned by wholly-owned subsidiaries of NovaGold and Barrick Gold.

Additionally, NovaGold said Rick Van Nieuwenhuyse, the company's founder, will step down from his current position as president and CEO of the company and will assume the position of president and CEO of NovaCopper Inc., a newly formed subsidiary.
