Actor Ian Abercrombie, best known for his role as Elaine's boss Mr. Pitt on "Seinfeld," passed away at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, January 26. Abercrombie was 77-years-old and died of kidney failure after being diagnosed with lymphoma.

Abercrombie appeared in seven episodes of the show and while speaking with CNN in 1998 admits that it helped define his career:

"Incredibly so," he said. "I mean, I have been around as an actor for 40-odd years, and this show knocked me out of the ballpark."

He also summarized his character Justin Pitt, noting the troubles he caused for Elaine:

"I was a pain in the neck. I was a hypochondriac. I was many things, and I just made her life so miserable. She wouldn't take the salt off my pretzels, you know. She brought me white socks . . . she did a lot of things for me, but she could never do it right."
