Paula Abdul has been axed from her hosting job on Fox's hit vocal competition show "X-Factor." Abdul was cut loose from the show along with Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones but the singer says she remains in good terms with the show's creator Simon Cowell.

"I've learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions oftentimes override personal considerations," she said in an official statement. "Simon and I, along with Fox and Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation."

Cowell and Abdul have been close allies in recent years and Paula says she was thrilled to have the experience of working with Fox:

"Simon is, and will remain, a dear friend of mine, and I've treasured my experience working this past season with my extended family at Fox and Fremantle," said Abdul.

Cowell also issued a statement saying: "I expect to be working with her on another project in the near future."
