Matthew Broderick has made headlines in recent weeks with the release of his new Honda ad inspired by his classic film "Ferris Beuller's Day Off." The ad has gone viral across the web but, according to Broderick he was initially ambivalent about the project.

While speaking with the New York blog Vulture, Broderick said he nearly passed up the opportunity but "ended up thinking it might be amusing."

"It took a little, uh, thinking about it. It took a little time," Broderick tells the blog. "I thought it would be fun to send up Ferris Bueller a little bit . . . I guess I'm part of a virus."

He also revealed that one deciding factor for making the ad was the involvement of "The Hangover" director Todd Phillips. Broderick adds that Phillips is a "good director" and he was excited to work on the two and half minute ad with him.
