ProAssurance Corp. (PRA) reported fourth quarter operating income of $4.27 per share after the close Wednesday, compared to $3.08 per share in the previous year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $2.02.
ProAssurance climbed for the majority of the morning Thursday and took out the highs of the day going into the close. Shares finished up by 4.76 at $89.57 on above average volume. The stock broke out of a 3-week range and set a new high for the year.
