NutriSystem Inc. (NTRI) reported a fourth quarter net loss of $0.04 per share after the bell Monday, compared to the profit of $0.24 per share in the previous year. The consensus estimate was for a loss of $0.02. The company expects to report a first quarter loss of $0.10 to $0.05, compared to the consensus estimate of a profit of $0.10. Full year 2012 EPS is expected to be between $0.45 and $0.55, compared to the consensus estimate of $0.92.
NutriSystem gapped open sharply lower Tuesday, but traded in a narrow range throughout the session. The stock closed down by 1.30 at $10.58 on the highest volume of the year. NutriSystem dropped below a one-month range and set over a 5-month low.
