Stevie Wonder was on hand at the United Nations headquarters in New York for the International Jazz Day concert along with several jazz luminaries including Herbie Hancock.

Hancock took the stage with the surviving members of former Miles Davis' quintet—saxophonist Wayne Shorter and bassist Ron Carter—to perform the trumpet master's "Milestones." Wonder sat in with Hugh Masekela to play "Grazing in the Grass."

Lang Lang, Wynton Marsalis, Robert Cray, Susan Tedeschi and Tony Bennett also performed at the concert.

The event was hosted by Morgan Freeman, Quincy Jones, Michael Douglas and Robert de Niro; and kicked off with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who addressed the crowd with a video message that noted the international scope of jazz:

"After all, the U.N. flag is kind of blue," he jested.
