Thai GDP Rises 11% In Q1

Thailand's economy expanded 11 percent quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter, after adjusting to seasonal variations, the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) said Monday.

Year-on-year, the gross domestic product expanded 0.3 percent. This compares to a forecast of 0.9 percent contraction. In the fourth quarter, GDP fell 8.9 percent.

The planning agency expects the economy to expand 5.5 - 6.5 percent in 2012.
