Poland's producer price inflation weakened in April, and matched economists forecast, data released by the statistical office showed Monday.
The producer price index increased 4.3 percent year-on-year in April, in line with economists' expectations. The rate of growth was slower than the March rate of 4.4 percent, which was revised down from 4.5 percent.
Output prices in the manufacturing industry advanced 4.2 percent year-on-year, while mining and quarrying prices decreased 1 percent. There was a 7.2 percent annual growth in output prices of electricity, gas, steam and hot water during the month.
On a monthly basis, output prices moved up 0.6 percent in April, faster than the 0.5 percent growth economists expected. In the January-April period, producer prices increased 5.6 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier.
Separately, the agency said Poland's industrial production increased 2.9 percent on an annual basis in April, faster than the 2.8 percent rise economists forecast. Month-on-month, output decreased 7.5 percent during the month, while economists expected a 7.2 percent fall.
