China Leading Index Due On Tuesday

China is on Tuesday scheduled to release April results from the Conference Board's leading and coincident indexes, highlighting a light day for Asia-Pacific economic activity. The leading index saw a 0.8 percent increase in March, while the coincident was up 0.6 percent.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand will release its two-year inflation expectation report for the second quarter of 2012.

Japan will provide April figures for supermarket sales; they were down 2.4 percent on year in March.

Major central bank action was the focus this week in economic news. The European Central Bank became the first major central bank to move in response to the rising inflationary pressures in the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East. In North America, the U.S. inflation and trade data as well as Canada’s central bank decision gained attention. The Chinese trade data was the main news in Asia.
