Extending its previous session's upward trading, the Australian dollar traded further higher against the New Zealand dollar during New York mid-day deals on Tuesday. At 11:30 am ET, the Aussie climbed to a 5-day high of 1.2942 versus the kiwi, compared to yesterday's close of 1.2894. Currently, the pair is worth 1.2936.

In today's early Asian session, the Reserve Bank of Australia decided to retain its benchmark cash rate unchanged at 3.5 percent for a second consecutive rate-setting meeting on Tuesday.

The decision was in line with economists' forecast. The central bank has reduced rates in May and June this year.
