It's seems historic blood runs through George Clooney's veins as it has been revealed that he is a descendant of President Abraham Lincoln. According to a new report from genealogy site Ancestry.com, the "Ocean's Eleven" star is a half first-cousin, five times removed from the famous Civil War president.
The site was able to retrace Clooney's lineage back through a woman named Lucy Hanks, who was Lincoln's maternal grandmother. Honest Abe is not George's only famous relative, however, as his mother was famed jazz singer Rosemary Clooney.
Clooney himself has often been encouraged to seek political office but says he'll stick with acting:
"As for running for president, look, there's a guy in office right now who is smarter than almost anyone you know, who's nicer and who has more compassion than almost anyone you know. And he's having an almost impossible time governing. Why would anybody volunteer for that job?" Clooney told a news conference while promoting his current film "Ides of March."
