British natural gas company BG Group plc (BRGYY.PK,BG.L) has named Chris Finlayson chief executive officer, to succeed Sir Frank Chapman. Chris, who is currently executive director and managing director BG Advance, would take over as chief executive on January 1, 2013.

Sir Frank would resign from the board as well as from the Group Executive Committee on December 31, 2012, and would continue working as an advisor in support of the CEO transition until his retirement in June 2013, as planned. In June this year, Sir Frank began a course of medication for very early stage myeloma. The course of medication has been very effective in dealing with Sir Frank's condition and in 2013 he would undergo 3 to 4 weeks hospital treatment to consolidate the excellent progress made.

Chris, with over 35 years experience in the oil and gas industry, joined BG Group from Shell in August 2010 and was appointed to the board on November 15, 2011.
