Consumer prices in South Korea were up 1.0 percent on year in June, Statistics Korea said on Monday - slightly below forecasts for 1.1 percent but unchanged from the May reading.
On a monthly basis, prices edged down 0.1 percent after a flat reading in May.
Core CPI, which strips out the volatile costs of food, was up 1.4 percent on year after showing 1.6 percent in the previous month. On month, core CPI was up 0.1 percent, slowing from 0.4 percent in May.
Inflation has been below 2 percent for eight straight months now, and CPI remains well below the Bank of Korea's target range if 2.5 to 3.5 percent - leaving the central bank room to maneuver in terms of additional easing.
