Andy Summers, former guitarist for the Police, is back on stage again - although this time with a new band, Circa Zero. The group, which also features multi-instrumentalist Rob Giles and drummer Emmanuelle Caplette, already has an album recorded but are waiting for the right deal.

Speaking with Rolling Stone magazine, Summers said he's happy to be getting back to basics with the new band.

"It's a cliché, but when you think back on bands, always the really great time is the first couple of years," he said. "Certainly I look back with the most affection about the Police with the first couple of years when we were going like a rocket. It was all so new, and we were going so successful . . . It's always the first bit because it's new and you're proving it."

Giles, giving a preview of the album, said "everything . . . is really full energy," while Summers added that "all [the songs] got strong attitudes and hooks."
