The man who broke into Kid Rock's Michigan home in July was sentenced to a lengthy jail term.
Brian D. Keith, an unemployed father of seven, was sentenced to at least 46 months behind bars for the burglary, which he says he does not remember committing. The crime caused $29,000 in damages and took place when Kid Rock (real name: Robert Richie) was not at the house.
Judge Wendy Potts cited his previous criminal record (which included 28 misdemeanors and three felony convictions) in the sentence, which could last up to twenty years. Keith apologized and blamed his alcoholism for the break-in, explaining in a subsequent interview with USA Today: "I apologize to the victim. It is the result of addiction. I'm only asking for a chance to have substance abuse treatment."
Keith was caught on August 3 after Kid Rock released surveillance video to the public and offered a reward for information leading to an arrest.
