Boston have confirmed plans to release their first new studio album since 2002. It will be the first since the suicide of Brad Delp in 2007, and mark the sixth studio release from the band overall.
The album, Live, Love & Hope, will likely feature vocals from both current singer Tommy DeCarlo and old recordings of Delp.
The band has released an official statement about the new album saying it marks "an intentional effort by principal songwriter and producer Tom Scholz to capture the recognizable sound and energy of his original releases, combined with the musical sophistication expected from exceptional players and vocalists, all performing within the traditional framework of the well-known Boston sound."
DeCarlo also spoke on the long gap between releases:
"Tom is quite a perfectionist when it comes to his sound and his music. It's not always done in a timely fashion."
