The pound traded in negative territory against other major currencies in Europe on Friday.
The pound hit 1.6271 against the greenback for the first time since November 27.
The pound fell to more than a 4-week low of 0.8439 against the euro and a 6-week low of 1.4488 against the franc.
Reversing from an early 3-day high of 169.82 against the yen, the pound slipped to 168.58.
The pound is likely to face support around 1.615 versus the greenback, 0.855 against the euro, 1.43 against the franc and 167.00 against the yen.
