The U.K. mortgage approvals for November and construction PMI for December are expected at 4:30 am ET Friday. Ahead of these reports, the pound showed mixed trading against other major currencies. While the pound held steady against the yen, it climbed against the the euro. Against the dollar and the franc, the pound pared gains.
The pound was worth 1.6439 against the greenback, 171.60 against the yen, 1.4807 against the franc and 0.8295 against the euro at 4:25 am ET.
