Queen Latifah honored gains in marriage equality laws when she married 33 couples live during the Grammys last night.
The singer and actress was granted temporary legal powers to marry the couples — many of them same-sex couples spanning a spectrum of age groups -during the performance of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's equality hit "Same Love."
Wearing a sparkling black dress, Latifah introduced the couples from the stage: "We are gathered here to celebrate love and harmony in every key and every color . . . This song is not a love song for some of us but for all of us."
The performance by Macklemore and Lewis also included an appearance by Mary Lambert and by surprise guest Madonna.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won four Grammy awards at last night's ceremony.
